CARTIF
CARTIF is a horizontal applied research center. Legally, it is a private, non-profit foundation born out of the University of Valladolid. Its mission is to provide innovative solutions to companies to improve their processes, systems, and products—enhancing competitiveness and creating new business opportunities.
CARTIF carries out R&D&I projects funded directly by companies or through public funding obtained via competitive national and international calls. It also provides consulting services to public administrations (municipalities and regional governments) in the planning and development of innovative projects with high economic return.
The center maintains the same values and objectives with which it was founded in 1994, the main one being to contribute to the development of its economic and social environment through the use and promotion of technological innovation, by developing and disseminating research.
CARTIF is a multidisciplinary center that works across multiple fields of knowledge, addressing nearly all economic sectors: energy, food, industry, construction and infrastructure, health, and environment. It focuses on key technological lines aligned with major challenges in each area, such as smart grids, smart cities, energy efficiency, heritage conservation, quality of life, circular economy, natural resources, and biotechnology.
CARTIF has laboratories that provide analytical services both internally and externally, offering a wide range of testing in fields such as energy, agri-food, materials manufacturing, and 3D digitization. It includes facilities like the Solid Biofuels and Materials laboratories, which have achieved accreditation under strict quality management systems.
