Hermanas Hospitalarias
Hermanas Hospitalarias del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús is a Catholic women’s religious congregation of pontifical right, founded in Madrid, Spain, in 1881 by the Italian religious and priest of the Order of Saint John of God, Saint Benedict Menni, together with María Josefa Recio and María Angustias Giménez.
Its mission is to care for the sick, with a special focus on psychiatric care, mental health, and intellectual disabilities.
The members of this congregation are known as Hermanas Hospitalarias del Sagrado Corazón or simply Hermanas Hospitalarias, and they use the initials H.S.C. after their names.
