Fundación ONCE

The ONCE Foundation for the Cooperation and Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities was established in February 1988 by agreement of the General Council of ONCE and was presented to society in September of the same year as a tool for cooperation and solidarity from blind Spaniards toward other groups of people with disabilities, with the aim of improving their living conditions.

In addition to ONCE itself as the founding entity, the ONCE Foundation’s Board of Trustees—its highest governing body—includes the main organizations representing people with disabilities in Spain. The Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI), which brings together the leading disability organizations in the country, is also part of the Board. These organizations represent the 3.8 million people with disabilities and their families across Spain.

The main source of funding for the ONCE Foundation each year comes from 3% of the gross income generated by ONCE’s lottery and gaming operations. This accounts for one out of every three euros ONCE allocates to social services.
